Suntory to Market
Improved Antonio Amato's Pasta
Suntory will begin marketing improved Antonio Amato's
pastas for restaurants on September 1.
The improved products are based on an even stricter
selection of wheat used for the pasta. Antonio Amato-produced
pasta enjoys No.1 sales in southern Italy. Suntory
has been importing pasta products from Antonio Amato
for ten years.

Suntory Announces
8th Akutagawa Composition Award
The Suntory Music Foundation awarded the 8th Akutagawa
Composition Award to "The Myth of Sisyphus for Two
Pianos and Orchestra" composed by Hiroyuki Ito, on
August 29 at Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
The foundation established the Akutagawa Composition
Award in 1990 as a memorial to the late composer
Yasushi Akutagawa who contributed to the development
of domestic classical music after the war.

Suntory Expanding
Its Flower Business
Suntory will on September 1 start marketing three
spring flower seedlings, three autumn flower pots
and one winter flower pot to expand the company's
flower business.
The three flower seedlings are Shukkonso
series including Yumemurasaki
(580 yen), Kent
Bell(580 yen) and Harumachiso
(580 yen), and the four flower pots consist of Hanatemari
(850 yen), Million Bell
(850 yen), Angel's Earring
(850 yen) and Hoshisaki
F 1 Sineria (1,500 yen).

Suntory to Use
Young TV Personality in Commercial
Suntory has engaged Takuya Kimura, a well-known
TV personality, for the company's commercial that
will advertise Suntory Whisky
10-Year Special Reserve <MARRIED IN SHERRY CASK>.
The commercial will be aired from September 12 nationwide.
Suntory Whisky 10-Year Reserve,
which was renewed in 1996, is one of the company's
mainstay whisky products enjoying wide consumption
at home and in restaurants.

Suntory to Open
French Restaurant
Suntory will open a restaurant offering fine French
food "Le Concert" on September 10 in Akasaka.
The restaurant's policy will be to serve a wide range
of French cuisine including quality dishes and local
dishes at reasonable prices. Keiji Azuma, chef of
the restaurant, will be responsible for dishes based
on his experience of working for three-star restaurants
in France as well as cooking in local restaurants.

Suntory to Introduce
Four Soft Drinks in Autumn
Suntory will begin marketing four new soft drinks
on September 22 nationwide.
Products include Suntory
Hitofusa Aka Budo (180 ml bottle: 115
yen), a healthy low-carbonated drink containing natural
polyphenol, Suntory Noshuku
Yasai - Kaju Mix 200% (125 g bottle: 115
yen), a double-condensed juice consisting of 100%
vegetables- and fruits-mixed juice, Suntory
Hokkaido Cheese Cream Soup (190g can:
115 yen), which features a full-bodied cheese produced
in Hokkaido, and Suntory
Yogurina Health Food Appointed (180 g
bottle: 115 yen), a lactic acid drink with a yogurt
flavor.

Suntory has issued "Suntory Quarterly No. 58" featuring
short stories on the theme of various attractive
aromas encountered in life. Suntory Quarterly, which

Lineup
Suntory will start marketing Totteoki
Kajitsu-no-Osake Yamagata-san-no-Yonashi Shu -La
France and Totteoki
Kajitsu-no-Osake Canada-san-no-Blue Berry Shu
on September 1 as additions to the
Totteoki Kajitsu-no-Osake Lineup. A 250
ml can retails for 194 yen.
Totteoki Kajitsu-no-Osake
is made from quality fruits produced in selected
fruit-growing regions. Since its debut in 1996, it
has been positioned as the No. 1 product in the fruit-based
lower-alcoholic beverage market.

Suntory to Hold
Annual Forum
The Suntory Foundation will hold its annual forum
"The 7th Hyper Forum-Chiiki-wa-Butai in Takaoka"
on September 27 in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture.
This year, the forum's theme "Cultures Echo Each
Other - Toyama and the World" focuses on the present
circumstances of regional cultural activities which
are now expanding internationally.
Since 1992, the foundation has been holding such
forums annually in various locations, with the aim
of promoting local concepts relating to cultural
and community developments.

To commemorate the launch of its new canned coffee

Suntory Announces
Research Grants 1998
The Suntory Foundation has announced its intention
to donate research grants totalling 40 million yen
for thirty-five research projects in the fields of
the humanities and social sciences in Japan.
Suntory established the Suntory Foundation for promotion
of interdisciplinary cultural research in 1979 to
mark the 80th anniversary of its foundation.

Reasonably-Priced Spanish Wine
On September 2, Suntory will sell two reasonably-priced
Spanish wines "Elegido Seleccion Red" and "Elegido
Seleccion White," which are produced by Spain's No.
1 wine producer BODEGAS & BEBIDAS. A 750ml bottle
retails for 850 yen.

Suntory to Accept
1998 New Wine Orders
On August 3, Suntory will begin accepting orders
for new domestic and imported wines from grapes harvested
in 1998. The company will market the new domestic
wines on October 30, the new Italian and Austrian
wines on November 6 and new French wines on November
19.
The domestic wines include Suntory
Wine 1998 Shukaku Nigori Shiro(500ml:
730 yen)/Karakuchi Shiro
(500ml: 730 yen)/Maroyaka
Aka (500ml: 730 yen)/Nigori
Rose (500ml: 730 yen). The imported
wines are Georges Duboeuf's "Beaujolais Nouveau
1998" (750ml: 2,180 yen) and "Beaujolais Villages
Nouveau 1998" (750ml: 2,450 yen), Syrah's "Nouveau
1998" (750ml: 1,070 yen) and "Sauvignon Blanc Nouveau
1998" (750ml: 1,070 yen), Brumale's "Novello 1998"

Suntory to Host
Annual Harvest Tour to Yamanashi Winery
Suntory will host its annual "Harvest Tour" at
its Yamanashi Winery from August 27 to September
30. The company has been organizing such tours since
1990, offering consumers an opportunity to visit
Japan's largest winery and vineyard and to share
the joy of the harvest. Designed with the objects
of improving participants' knowledge and enhancing
their enjoyment of wine, the tour consists of grape-picking,
lectures on grapes and wine-making, and wine tasting.
