Suntory Report on Liquor


Suntory has published its report on trends in the Liquor/Cocktail market. With cocktail becoming more popular market for imported liquor has been expanding 10% plus a year for these few years. According to the research on people who reside in Tokyo metropolitan area (people without any drinking habit excluded) younger adults and women drink liquor/cocktail more than people in other categories. Fruit liquor and cocktail is expected to boom in near future especially among people in their twenties. From a result of survey on participants of popular Suntory "Liquor Workshop" that has been held from April 2002 women in their twenties and thirties are understood to be very active in enjoying alcohol. 57.6% answered they wanted to know easy cocktail recipe to enjoy at home.

Suntory to Introduce Suntory COCKTAIL LATTE


From November 12 Suntory starts marketing COCKTAIL LATTE "Strawberry and Milk Cocktail" and "Powdered Green Tea and Milk Cocktail". COCKTAIL LATTE is low in alcohol with entirely new smooth and gentle taste. 245ml can retails at 180 yen.

Effectiveness of Flax Lignan on Menopausal Disorders Confirmed


As a result of research Suntory Institute for Food & Beverage Health Science Laboratory together with Prof. Mizutani of Nagoya University, School of Medicine confirmed the effectiveness of flax lignan (SDG) on glow and osteoporosis that are peculiar symptom of menopausal disorders. The result will be presented at the 17th Annual Meeting of the Japan Menopause Society held October 26-27.

Suntory to Start "Single-Malt Tasting Glass" Campaign


Suntory runs "Single-Malt Tasting Glass" campaign from November 5, 2002 to January 17, 2003 with Suntory Pure Malt Whisky YAMAZAKI 12-year old (750ml 6780yen), Suntory Pure Malt Whisky HAKUSHU 12-year old (700ml 6700yen), THE MACALLAN 12-year old (750ml 8000yen), GLENFIDDICH 12-year old special reserve (700ml 6000yen), BOWMORE 12-year old (700ml 6000yen) and LAPHROAIG 10 year-old (750ml 6000yen). The winning prize is a set of a tasting glass and two miniature bottles of single malt whisky.

Suntory to Start Meal Coupon Present Campaign


Suntory runs Meal Coupon Present Campaign from the end of October to the end of 2002 with its popular Korean Shochu KYOUGETSU GREEN. To each 4ltr (25% alcohol, 3100yen; 20%, 2820 yen), 2.7ltr (25%, 2113 yen; 20%, 1920 yen), 1.8ltr (25%, 1409 yen; 20%, 1280 yen) PET bottle one postcard for entry is attached and a 5000-yen meal coupon will be obtained to 2000 entrants.

Suntory to Add New Flavor to NACCHAN Beverage Line


Suntory starts marketing NACCHAN FRUIT PARTY, a new flavor of NACCHAN Line from November 19 for a limited time. The non-sugar NACCHAN FRUIT PARTY has soothing taste with apple, pineapple, peach and banana mixed in orange juice. 1.5ltr PET bottle and 500ml PET bottle retails at 330 yen and 140 yen respectively. Further from the end of November NACCHAN series' 1.5ltr PET bottle comes with one magical good each for Christmas-New Year season.

PEPSI PEANUTS Christmas Campaign 2002 Starts


From middle of November Suntory starts Christmas Campaign 2002 with a comic Peanuts, famous for its character Snoopy. For a limited time DIET PEPSI 500ml bottle-can (140 yen) comes in Snoopy designs and both PEPSI and DIET PEPSI 1.5ltr PET bottle come with Peanuts Classic Mini Doll Ornaments. Suntory starts marketing SUPER CHU-HI fruit series (Kyoho, Ume-shu, Peach and Litchi) with renewed package design from November 6. The new cheerful and friendly package appeals with its lively illustration of fruit and the initial letter of the fruit name. 350ml can and 500ml can retail at 140 yen and 190 yen respectively.

From October 15, Suntory Flowers Ltd. starts accepting reservation of new products for 2003 spring season. Suntory Institute for Food & Beverage Health Science Laboratory together with Osaka University, Institute for Protein Research will present the achievement of their research at the 23rd Meeting of the Obesity Society of Japan held October 3-10 at Kyoto. From their recent research it is confirmed that Oolong Tea is effective in preventing high blood pressure without any side effect.

Suntory Announces the Effectiveness of Ganoderma Lucidum (FR) Karst against Cancer


Suntory Institute for Food & Beverage Health Science Laboratory together with Teikyo University, Institute of Medical Mycology will announce the effectiveness of Ganoderma Lucidum (FR) Karst against cancer at the 61st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Cancer Association held October 1-3 at Tokyo. Ganoderma Lucidum (FR) Karst is one of the bracket fungus of the genus Fomes that shapes like antlers and is rich in Beta Glucan. Moreover by using it with chemotherapeutic drug (cychlophosphamide) its effectiveness increased and the side effect of chemotherapeutic drug decreased.
