Suntory Foundation is now accepting applications for its annual Suntory Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities. Financial support will be awarded for academic works submitted from such fields as political science, economics, sociology, and cultural studies. The application deadline is April 10 and winners will be announced in July 2003. No. 8342 January 28 From February 12 Suntory starts marketing MOMO-GURE in addition to already-marketing GURE-FURU, PIN-GURE, KYOHO-GURE series that are new low-alcohol fruit liquor made by fruit fermentation. MOMO-GURE is grapefruit wine that has exquisite balance of acidity, sweetness, bitterness and softness blended with sweet and gentle white peach juice. 350/500ml can retails at 145/195 yen. No. 8339 January 21 From February 25 Suntory starts marketing SUPER CHU-HI HANA as the first spring version of this year's new seasonal SUPER CHU-HI series whose tastes express joy of each season. SUPER CHU-HI HANA contains cherry blossom flowers with sweet and sour aroma and is ideal for spring parties. 350/500 ml can retails at 140/190 yen. No. 8338 January 16 In 2003 Suntory starts marketing PEPSI in a giant scale creating new market. On March 25 PEPSI TWIST will be introduced with fresh taste of lemon and sensational taste of Cola mixed. For the promotion of PEPSI series a star football player, Beckham, and PEPSI-Twist man will be introduced as new characters in addition to another star baseball player, Ichiro. Portraits of Beckham and Ichiro will be on the package of PEPSI while two world-class popular football team, Manchester United and Real Madrid, will also appear on PEPSI bottle-can for a limited time. 1.5ltr, 500ml, 350ml, 160ml retails at 320, 140, 115, 70 yen respectively. Suntory achieved incredible 6% growth selling 282 million cases, the target
set at the beginning of 2002. The growth came on steadily improving sales
of established brands and the successes of three new sugar-free tea products
and GOKURI. DAKARA showed its sales leap by 40%. No. 8335 January 15 From March 18 Suntory starts marketing authentic Shochu, KUROMARU, that is made only from fresh sweet potato. Its mild aroma and incredibly soft body was developed in cooperation with notable Shochu maker, Hamada Shuzo. 720ml bottle retails at 1200 yen. No. 8331 January 8 From February 4 Suntory starts marketing renewed NATCHAN ORANGE and NATCHAN RINGO (apple). As both package designs are renewed with bigger NATCHAN smile taste of NATCHAN ORANGE becomes even fresher and smoother. Along with it from the beginning of February "NATCHAN Bottle-Ware On-Pack Campaign" starts that presents one PET bottle cover each 1.5ltr PET bottle. 1.5ltr/500ml PET bottle retails at 330/140 yen, 340g/250g/160g can retails at 115/115/70 yen and 250ml paper pack retails at 100 yen. No. 8329 January 8 From February Suntory starts marketing its mineral water under one SUNTORY TENNENSUI brand with a concept, "natural, safe, tasty." From February 18 high-quality and crisp MINAMI ALPS TENNENSUI changes its name to SUNTORY TENNNENSUI (MINAMI ALPS) and from June smooth soft water, SUNTORY TENNNENSUI (ASO) appears in Kyushu and Chugoku district. MINAMI ALPS 2ltr, 1.5ltr, 900ml, 500ml PET bottle retails at 230, 200, 180, 130 yen respectively and 340ml/250ml can retails at 105/87 yen. ASO 2ltr/500ml PET bottle retails at 230/130 yen. No. 8333 January 7 From middle of February Suntory starts marketing its low-malt beer, JUN-NAMA, with renewed package design to sell more to its market. Along with it from March its new TV commercial with actress, Yoshino Kimura, and comedian, Koji Kato, who act as a couple will be on air. JUN-NAMA 500ml, 350ml, 250ml cans retail at 185 yen, 135 yen, 115 yen respectively. No. 8332 January 7 From the beginning of February a Yomiuri Giants' player, Kazuhiro Kiyohara, appears in Suntory SUPER MAGNUM DRY commercial. Kazuhiro is one of the top slugger in Japan who is popular to all generations. His lovable character and tremendous play seems just right for the commercial of SUPER MAGNUM DRY (350ml, 130yen), popular low-malt beer with dry yet rich taste. No. 8327 January 7 From March 4 Suntory starts "Couple's Happiness (Fufu no Shiawase)" present campaign with JUN-NAMA, low-malt beer which is produced with special filtering process using bamboo charcoal. 6 people win remodeling of their houses by one of the top architect, Masahiko Otsuka, and 3000 people win flowers that will be sent 4 times in a year.
