Suntory Tonegawa Brewery Increases its Open Days for Visitors


From April to November Suntory Tonegawa Brewery is open seven days a week for visitors. In addition to regular tour, new special tours as "Eco Brewery Tour", "Experience the Great Taste of Beer Tour", "Mechanism of Zero Waste Plant" and "Important Points for Beer Producer Course" which let visitors taste unfinished beer that is still in the course of production are held. Suntory Musashino Brewery is now open for visitors everyday (except for the new year period and irregularly closed days) to show quality beer production process. Suntory Advertises DAKARA with AD-Seat


From April 1 to 15 Suntory advertises DAKARA with AD-Seat, the first train-seat advertisement ever in Japan. At the same time the company places 50 statues of its character, DAKARA Peeing Boy, at the ticket gates of 19 stations within Yamanote line. Since its introduction in 2000 DAKARA has been increasing its sales rapidly. With this advertisement titled "Welcome to Tokyo DAKARA" the company is aiming to cheering newcomers to Tokyo.

Suntory to Start Marketing Soft Drinks in Guangdong, China


From April 1 Suntory starts marketing three soft drinks brands in Guangdong, China. The company set up "Suntory (Guangzhou) Foods Co., Ltd." that would produce and market beverage in Guangzhou, Guangdong this January as a part of business expansion strategy in China. It is aiming to expand business in Southern China and all over China whose market is expected to show a rapid growth.

Second Keizo Saji Award Recipient Announced


Suntory Music Foundation announced on March 18 that the second Keizo Saji Award, which recognizes well-planned and successful concerts, would be presented to concert "Ensemble Nomad: First Regular Concert 2002" lead by a guitarist, Norio Sato. 2 million yen cash prize will be awarded to the winning group.

Conductor and Pianist Receive 34th Suntory Music Award


On March 18 Suntory Music Foundation announced that its 34th annual musical award, which includes cash prize of 7 million yen, would be given to conductor Seiji Ozawa and pianist Kaori Kimura. Established in 1969 to promote western classical music, the association is instrumental in commissioning new works and sponsoring concerts by local artists.

2002 Suntory Prize Winners Announced


Suntory Foundation announced that its annual Suntory Prize, which fosters publication of Japanese literature overseas, has been awarded to 11 works including five attempts to translate original Japanese text into Polish, Rumanian, and Czech respectively reflecting increasing interests in Japanese literature in East Europe. This year, the winners will share a subsidy of 5.2 million yen. Established in 1979 to commemorate the company's 80th anniversary, Suntory Foundation is committed to helping development of cultural and educational programs worldwide.

From April 22 Suntory starts marketing renewed LATTE LATTE 300ml PET bottle (124 yen) and 200ml paper pack (100 yen). As its 280g can its refreshing aftertaste is enhanced while maintaining richness of milk. Comfortable cafe-like package design is adopted for these two items as well.

From April 22 Suntory starts marketing NACCHAN NO HIMITSU (Secret of Nacchan) as a new item of NACCHAN beverage line. This NACCHAN NO HIMITSU with orange fiber has new joyous texture balanced with its original fresh taste. 400g bottle-can retails at 140 yen.

Suntory to Add AMINOSHIKI 2 lit. PET Bottle in Market


From April 22 Suntory starts marketing AMINOSHIKI 2 lit. PET bottle (330 yen) to add to existing 500 ml PET bottle. AMINOSHIKI is sports drink to support healthy life whose 2 lit. PET bottle contains 4,000mg of energy-burning amino acid. With its refreshing scent of Litchi and aftertaste its 500ml PET bottle has been selling very well.

Suntory to Market TAINAI-KIREI-CHA KOKOKARA


From April 15 Suntory starts marketing new healthy tea, TAINAI-KIREI-CHA KOKOKARA (500ml PET bottle, 140yen), for people who are feeling stress or having irregular dietary habits. With several grains as main ingredients it has gentle smooth taste with hint of sweetness from Jerusalem artichoke and dandelion. In addition, natural healthy ingredients as black sesame, turmeric and sweet clover are blended. Along "Tainai Kirei no Tabi (Body Cleansing Trip)" present campaign will be held that will invites 25 pairs to Langkawi Island, Malaysia.

Uncle Torys Revives With the Introduction of TORYS WHISKY SQUARE


To advertise the introduction of TORYS WHISKY SQUARE on March 18 Suntory starts airing animated commercial with Uncle Torys from March 27 after 22 years. Torys was first sold in 1946 as real but reasonably priced whisky and Uncle Torys had been one of the most popular commercial characters from 1958.

Spring Festival Begins at Suntory Tomi-no-oka Winery


From March 29 to April 13 Suntory Tomi-no-oka Winery holds "Hill of Wine and Flowers: Spring Festa." The festival is intended to let visitors enjoy spring flowers including 1000 cherry blossom trees and wine produced at the winery. "Whisky College" Starts at Yamazaki and Hakushu Distilleries


From April Suntory starts "Whisky College" at both Yamazaki and Hakushu Distilleries intended for those who have deep interest and knowledge about whisky. At the "college" producers of whisky give classes on ingenious technique of whisky making based on their long experience as well as ways of enjoying whisky. The "college" is accepting students over 20 years old for year 2003.

Suntory to Market Brand-new THE SHAKE


From April 8 Suntory starts marketing low-alcohol cocktail THE SHAKE in two flavors, Screw Driver and Salty Dog. By shaking as if you are a bartender its bouquet enhanced and its taste become mild. It is a fun drink that makes joyous atmosphere. 290ml retails at 190 yen.

On April 4 Suntory Research Institute of Continuity and Change in Life holds a forum titled "What is 'to be adult?' Consideration on Maturity of People and Society" at Aoyama Spiral. With panelists from fields as philosophy, cultural anthropology, primatology, a truly rich way of life will be discussed. The company invites 200 participants from March 14.

From April 15 to May 25 Suntory Museum of Art exhibits "Courtly Designs: Decorative Floral Roundels of Japan." The exhibition introduces floral roundels in Japanese dynasty that trace their source back to the distant Tang dynasty in China then transformed into a traditional Japanese design motif with 6 National Treasures and 10 Important Cultural Properties.

From April 8 Suntory starts marketing Suntory coffee BOSS Sekido (Equator) Blend (190g, 115yen) with mild taste, gorgeous aroma and light bitterness that is made mainly from Columbian coffee, Cafe Classico. Along, from April 1 to June 30 "BOSSPRESSO" campaign will be held that will present Mini Boss-Jumper mobile phone holder or Boss original espresso machine with espresso coffee beans and a pair of cups.

From March 18 Suntory starts marketing TORYS WHISKY SQUARE with smooth fresh taste and gorgeous sweet aroma at a reasonable price (700ml/2700ml/4000ml, 910yen/3150yen/4440yen). TORYS was originally sold in 1946 as real whisky reachable to the public at large. The long seller item is now renewed to fit this new age.

Suntory Introduces Brand-New CHU-HI SEISHUN


From April 1 Suntory starts marketing CHU-HI SEISHUN in two, lemon and grapefruit, flavors (350ml/500ml, 140/190yen). With the name SEISHUN meaning adolescence and newly developed shiny pin-striped can its fresh image is expected to increase new CHU-HI fans. For monitoring purpose a case (24 cans) each will be given to 100 companies that hold initiation ceremony on April 1.
