Suntory is to release healthy liqueur “Macadia”
— Wine for “beauty” and “high spirit” with
soaked maca and rose hip from Andes —
Suntory Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, President: Nobutada Saji) is to release healthy liqueur “Macadia” from 6 April 2004 throughout Japan.
Recently, customers’ health consciousness has been on rise. In such a trend, Suntory has pursued the development of liqueur that uses healthy ingredients, by utilizing both product development on alcoholic beverage business and research development of healthy product business. Suntory then, has focused on “maca” and “rose hip” that contain vitamin, mineral, and amino acid and newly released healthy liqueur “Macadia” as a drink that can be enjoyed by women. It is particularly targeted to women who are highly interested in beauty and health, enabling them to enjoy alcohol and satisfy their health consciousness at the same time.
Feature of Content
“Macadia” is freshly tasted liqueur, produced by distilled liquor of white grapes with soaked “maca” and “rose hip” from Andes. It is made quaffable with lemon and lime juice. “Macadia” can be drunk in free styles such as on the rocks, or mixing with lime or lemon juice. It can be served on meals, relaxation and before sleep.
“Maca” is a cruciferous edible root that can be cultivated only at a high altitude of 4,000 meters of Andes. It is natural food, which is said to have been eaten since the time of Inca Empire, in order to sustain one’s health in severe nature. The root part of “maca” contains amino acid of arginine and minerals of vitamin B, VC, VE, iron and zinc. Diet component of “maca” has been researched and publicized by various world institutions such as Peru National Central University.
“Rose hip” grows wild in Republic of Chile in South America. Rose hip has been passed down by oral tradition as “guardian god of lineage”, and it has been eaten by people from ancient times. Abundantly containing vitamin C, VE, VP, lycopene, and iron, rose hip teas with refined integument are popular among women in late years.
