Newly Released: Suntory Coffee “BOSS Rainbow Mountain Blend”

Suntory Co. Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka City, Japan / President: Nobutada Saji) will release “BOSS Rainbow Mountain Blend” nationwide from Tuesday, September 7th as its new key product. This product features contains the coffee beans certified by Anacafe*1 for the first time.

Suntory recognized the need to further improve the quality and carefully select the beans in order to produce the brand new “BOSS” series. This requires the consistent supplies of high-quality coffee beans. Therefore, Suntory has been discussing the prospects of direct affiliations with coffee-production districts.

Guatemala is well known for maintaining its traditional method of carefully and gently producing coffee beans. Its coffee beans have also been rated highly as specialty coffee by many of the booming coffee-shop chains since last year. Suntory has recognized the importance of high quality in Guatemalan coffee beans, collaborated with Anacafe and facilitated new projects.

The coffee beans “Rainbow Mountain” used for the new “BOSS” series are produced by blending beans from seven areas recommended by Anacafe. These beans are recognized by Anacafe for meeting its original quality standard. Moreover, this was the first time that Anacafe itself named and certified the particular beans as “Rainbow Mountain”. Suntory will be the sole seller in Japan for the canned coffee using this “Rainbow Mountain”.

*1 Asociación Nacional del Café (Anacafe):
Anacafe was established in 1969 as the only body that aimed at safeguarding the local coffee producers in Guatemala, based on its statutory laws. It provides the producers with agro-industrial training, quality-improvement training, market information, as well as functions to inspect the quality of coffee beans in exports. It also contributes to popularize Guatemalan coffee in the global market. Anacafe is the abbreviated form of Asociación Nacional del Café.
