New Release for Suntory Flowers Ltd. Fall-Winter 2004:
Introducing “Yellow & Velvet” to mound-type FIORINA,
Viola that blooms immediately and in flower throughout winter

Suntory Flowers Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masahiko Kobayashi) is to release new products of FIORINA, a type of Viola that blooms one after another like Safinia, for the fall-winter 2004 gardening season, starting September.

FIORINA is a new type of Viola, strong and easy to grow, which abundantly blooms in large numbers of flowers. This line has been developed and marketed since 2002 in reflection of customer's voices for “something gorgeous for the fall-winter gardening scene” or “colorful flowers to last long till spring.” The new color addition for the season includes “yellow & velvet”, “wedding dress,” and more.

• FIORINA   <mound-type>        (Viola, Violaceae)

Mound-type FIORINA is an early flower which blooms immediately after planting. An amazingly large number of flowers blossom in a thick dome shape with upper parts tightly crowded one another, which gives you long lasting joy until around May the following year. “Yellow & Velvet” joins the family this year to make the colors four types in total. Requiring less space, they type is suitable even for small balconies.

• FIORINA   <trailing-type>        (Viola, Violaceae)

Long hanging-down branches are signature characteristics for this rare kind of Viola which fully blooms in spring. This branch drooping feature is ideal for those who love hanging plants to create gorgeous atmosphere. This time white large-flowered “Wedding Dress” and lovely small-flowered “Blue” are newly added to the selections, which makes two types in color for large-flowered and four for small available in the market.

“Senetti,” a type of Cineraria, is now released as sapling in addition to a long-time popular pot plant. Spontaneously blooming like a sky sowed with stars, this vivid and colorful flower will surely enhance less lively fall-winter gardens.
