Suntory Tomi-no-Oka Winery to release a special vintage
“Tomi (red) 2002”
Suntory Ltd. is to release “Suntory Tomi-no-Oka Winery: Tomi (red) 2002,”one of the most representative vintage red wines in Japan, starting Thursday 25 November throughout Japan.
Suntory Tomi-no-Oka Winery (Director: Haruo Nishino; Kai City, Yamanashi Pref.) owns its vineyard in “Tomi-no-Oka,” reputable as a wine Utopia in the top grape production ground of Yamanashi, covering the entire wine making operation from grape cultivation to aging and bottling. The Winery promotes an environmentally friendly ‘cyclic agriculture’ through its own vineyard, and is certified with ISO 14001, the internationally recognized environmental management systems, since June 2001.
“Tomi,” produced and bottled solely for the best vintages, is internationally recognized as the multiple award-winning highest quality red wine. In the year of 2002, the Tomi-no-Oka Winery has successfully harvested fully ripen grapes due to fine weather. “Tomi 2002” is the first vintage in five years, using 100% self-grown grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
