Suntory Introduces
“AQUA VITAE” Pure Malt Whisky
– A New Concept in Whisky –Focusing on Whisky's Unique Cask Polyphenols

Suntory announces the nationwide launch of its “AQUA VITAE Pure Malt Whisky.” Based on a completely new concept, this whisky is produced with a special focus on the cask polyphenols found only in whisky. The wood used to build the casks in which whisky is prepared contains unique polyphenols, which are now known to be nearly as strong as those found in red wine. Suntory’s diverse array of key malts includes those stored in new casks built with specially charred linings, as well as those stored in sherry casks made of Spanish oak. By vatting carefully selected key malts that are high in cask polyphenols, Suntory has handcrafted AQUA VITAE whisky containing 200mg of these polyphenols (per 500ml standard bottle). This highly aromatic whisky features a smooth, full-bodied taste. Taking its name from the Latin, the source of the word for whisky itself, “AQUA VITAE” means “water of life.”
