The Worldwide Whisky Category was newly established this year to reflect the growth of whiskies from various country origins. It was in this category that Yamazaki Single Malt 18 Years Old won the trophy for the very best of non-Scotch Whiskies.
Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky 18 Years Old has been evaluated as a high quality single malt whisky with its full of toffee sweetness balanced by a smoky peat and leather note with a longdry finish.
・Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky 18 Years Old
This single malt whisky comes from carefully selected Yamazaki Distillery malt aged at least 18 years and vatted. The product is characterized by a mature, aromatically sweet nose, a delicate sweetness that comes from its storage in sherry casks, a strong and hearty woodiness and a deep and long-lasting aftertaste in which varied flavors reverberate.
・The Yamazaki Brand
The history of Japanese Whisky began in 1923, when Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory set out to produce Japan’s first full-fledged domestic whisky and initiated construction of a single malt whisky distillery. In the years since, the Yamazaki distillery has been producing a variety of malt whiskies with production from different types of yeast, washbacks, pot stills and casks. Now recognized as one of the profound whiskies of the world, Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky receives various awards from the world’s prestigious competitions. In 2003, Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky 12 Years Old was awarded Gold at the International Spirits Challenge, and in 2005, Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky 18 Years Old was awarded Double Gold at 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
