Suntory Debuts Champagne Henriot
Rare high-quality champagne from a traditional family-run champagne house

Suntory Limited, in cooperation with Champagne Henriot, will begin importing and reselling the leading French champagne house’s Henriot brand, with HENRIOT BRUT SOUVERAIN and HENRIOT CUVÉE DES ENCHANTELEURS scheduled for release on April 2, 2007.

The Henriot champagne house has been continually run by the founding family for the whole of its nearly 200-year history. Though small in scale with only about 1 million bottles produced annually, Henriot takes pride in its production of high-quality grapes, with the majority of its vineyards designated as either Grand Cru or Premier Cru. With an average score of 97%, its champagnes are highly rated by internationally renowned wine critic Robert Parker, who has awarded them his “Outstanding” five-star rating.

Henriot traditionally uses only chardonnay and pinot noir grapes for its elegant champagnes, with special emphasis on the chardonnay. This tradition endured with the previous head of the champagne house, Joseph Henriot, who revitalized Bouchard Pere et Fils and William Fevre, and continues today with Stanislaus Henriot, the 12th head of Henriot.

Suntory and the Henriot family have enjoyed building a good relationship through such ventures as the funding of Lejay-Lagoute, as well as their dealings with Bouchard Pere et Fils and Domaine William Fevre.

With the champagne market growing steadily in Japan, Suntory hopes to use Henriot’s superb offerings to provide an even more reliable source of champagne from a world-renowned brand. And as Japan’s leading wine company, we will strive to continue providing our customers with valuable wines by expanding and strengthening our portfolio of labels from influential wineries around the world.
