The café lounge “IYEMON SALON KYOTO” is scheduled to open on June 22 in Kyoto. Suntory Limited has jointly developed this café lounge with CAFÉ COMPANY Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo).*

Since the launch of Iyemon Cha in Japan in March 2004, we have engaged in a variety of activities designed to communicate to our customers through the medium of teas, carefully selected by one of the country’s long-established tea houses, the benefits and pleasures of the rich lifestyle that has been nurtured in Japan. We also intend to expand overseas, and will, for instance, be placing the Iyemon brand on sale in the San Francisco Bay area of the United States starting in June of this year.

We are currently engaged with CAFÉ COMPANY Co., Ltd., in the joint development of a retail establishment that offers "a new lifestyle through the medium of tea," based on fusing the traditional tea culture found here in Japan with elements of the modern. This café lounge will provide various ways of enjoying tea as well as a menu of dishes that enhance the enjoyment of tea, in a space designed for that purpose, all presented with scrupulous attention to detail.

Founded in June 2001, this company operates 33 cafés throughout Japan. The company considers cafés to be places that provide "Community Access for Everyone" and offer vibrant lifestyle possibilities.
