Suntory is actively expanding its beverage and food business overseas as well as in Japan.
Europe and North America
In 1980, Suntory entered into the beverage business in the United States, where it operates Pepsi Bottling Ventures LLC, a company that handles both production and distribution of Pepsi brand products. Pepsi Bottling Ventures has been strengthening its business steadily by increasing its non-carbonated beverage lineup in response to increasing consumer health-conscious needs, as well as its lineup of carbonated soft drinks.

Suntory expanded its overseas operations further in 2009 when it acquired the Orangina Schweppes Group (OSG), which boasts both strong brands and a firmly established base of operations in Europe. Besides further expanding development of the carbonated fruit beverage Orangina and other brands of OSG that are enjoyed the world over, in January 2011 we released the Frucor Group’s V in Spain through the robust distribution network of OSG in Europe as a driver for Suntory Group growth.
Asia and Oceania
In 1990, Suntory purchased Singapore-based Cerebos Pacific Ltd., which is contributing to healthier consumer lifestyles in Asian countries with its BRAND’S health food products led by BRAND’S Essence of Chicken, as well as marketing a wide range of processed foods centered on coffee and sauces in Oceania.

In Southeast Asia, Suntory acquired a stake in Tipco F&B Co., Ltd., which has its headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2007. As well as further strengthening the Tipco brand, which boasts the largest share of Thailand’s fruit juice market, Tipco F&B started producing and distributing Suntory’s functional drink DAKARA in Thailand in October 2008. We will continue to aggressively pursue joint beverage operations in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, we have launched BOSS canned coffee in Malaysia in 2007 through a tie-up with PepsiCo Inc.

In 2009, we acquired the Frucor Group, the second largest producer and distributor in New Zealand’s beverage market and a rapidly growing business concern in Australia as well. Besides accelerating expansion of the Suntory Group’s beverage business in New Zealand and Australia through Frucor, we plan to market its strong brands such as V, the number one carbonated energy drink in both countries, internationally.
Having succeeded in establishing solid bases of operations for our beverage and food business in Oceania and Europe, adding these to our bases in the United States, China, Taiwan and the rest of Asia, as of 2011 we have adopted a unified business structure consolidating domestic and overseas operations internationally under the single Suntory Beverage & Food umbrella. With this new structure as our foundation, we will pour our efforts into developing core brands while strengthening our operational bases in each country, pursue business development in a way that transcends national and company borders as we cultivate united group synergy, and achieve unprecedented growth and global competitiveness within the beverage industry.
