Momoyama period
The rim turns slightly outward and the body narrows abruptly near the foot. The relatively large foot widens toward the base. On one side of the body, an iris is painted with quick brush strokes. On the other side, pampas grass and another flower are painted in the same manner. The pale brown glaze applied on both the inner and outer surfaces is crackled. Around the foot, the unglazed reddish ground is exposed. The inside of the rim is a charred dark brown. It is most likely that this bowl was made in the Koraijin kiln in Ichinose.
