Edo period
The large deep bowl has a remarkably bulging cover with a slightly protruded flat rim and small circular knob on top. The foot of the bowl is more or less tapered, reflecting a style typical of early Imari ware. Both cover and bowl are decorated with showy painted peonies by an open walkway. The painting is divided into two by the cloud pattern in blue and yellow glaze that surrounds the rims of the cover and bowl. The unpainted blank area reveals the clear white texture of Imari ware.
