This ship-shaped pitcher is referred to as nef ewer. A spout forms one end of the body while a horn, a fertility symbol, forms the top of the mast. The gradually widening foot has a knop. Because the colorless and transparent grass resembles crystal, the grass is known as cristallo, a kind of soda glass developed in Venice. Pale blue glass is added as an accent. This a typical example of Venetian glassware. This water pitcher is said to have been made by Arminia Vivarini in 1521 on Murano Island.
