Edo period
The large purple wine bottle with a gentle round shape has wisteria flowers in gold maki-e in three places. The leaves and vines are beautifully rendered, reminiscent of a Rimpa painting. The veins of the leaf are done by needle engraving. Having lost little gold, the wine bottle is in rather good condition, although there are bubbles, vortex-shaped stria and iridescence on the side. The case for this bottle is signed in brush in ink, "October, the 8th year of Bunsei (1825), Hayashi."
