Circular shapes of blue-tinged purple glass are fused to both sides of the spherical body. The colored circle has a hexagonal wickerwork pattern, which is also used on the handle. The lid and the colorless part of the body are cut in the shippo-tsunagi pattern ( interlocking circles ). The handle is fixed to the tin-covered glass fittings which are fused to the body at three points. Being the only wine ewer of Satsuma cut glass in existence, this is an extremely valuable piece.
