Wide at both ends and constricted in the middle like a standing drum, this shape is referred to as "ryugogata". Ki-seto pieces in this form are rare. Although the lower part of the body is somewhat narrow and the mouth wide, there is no sense of instability; rather, the form appears strongly coherent. The low foot is flat. The yellow-colored glaze that covers the entire body was a development from the natural ash glaze found on Ko-seto ware. It melts evenly, creating a uniform luster. Green-tinged streaks are visible where the glaze ran down the lower part of the vase.
