A motif comprised of ships and men from Netherlands decorate the outside of this large top-shaped bowl. Gracing the center of the interior is a great Dutch chip, which has been painted within a round medallion enclosed by a band of arabesque scroll rendered in gold. Arranged in symmetrical fashion on either side of this central motif are two smaller ships, and between them are placed eight Dutch figures and emble-matic peonies. The outside bears a decoration consisting of two additional Dutch ships, a red roundel containing two Dutch figures standing with their arms around each other's shoulders, and a peony motif. Inscribed in gold in the center of the foot is the character "kotobuki" (longevity).
