Edo period
The walls of this bowl slant slightly outward and the mouth is warped. Along the edge of the rim is a floral decoration, and beneath this is an arabesque design over lotus petals painted in underglaze blue. A cloud arabesque runs along the interior of the rim. The wide body of the bowl is encircled with a landscape rendered with soft, fluid brushstrokes. One can see cracking in the white, low-fired glaze, and pinkish marks called gohon are evident on both the interior and exterior. The foot is low and is underglze on the bottom, with the original surface of the clay partially visible.
