Bar Hakushu

At any given time, there are several hundred thousand casks of single malt whisky aging in the lush natural environment of Hakushu in the Southern Alps, waiting to be blended to produce various whiskies. At Bar Hakushu, you can sample Suntory whiskies like Hakushu, Yamazaki, and Hibiki, as well as other single malt and blended whiskies from around the world (a fee will apply).

The centrepiece of Bar Hakushu is the actual bar from Usagi, a renowned drinking establishment in Tokyo’s Ginza district. We invite you to discover your own favourite whisky while enjoying an unhurried glass at this storied bar, following in the tradition of untold thousands of whisky-lovers of years past.

  • Open Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from April to November
  • Hours: 10:00 am to 4:30 pm (last orders at 4:00 pm)
  • Bar Hakushu is occasionally closed on a temporary basis. Please contact the bar for more information.

    Hakushu 18 Years Old

    Refreshing, but yet deep aroma, deriving from the malt whiskies matured for a long time in the warehouses of the forest, complements a beautifully mellow woodiness, complex body with an exquisite sweetness, a hint of smokiness, and ripe fruits. All are completely harmonized. It ends with a lingering aftertaste of smokiness that is comfortable and familiar.

  • AGED 25 YEARSHakushu 25 Years Old

    Hakushu 25 Years Old

    A beautiful harmony of mellow fruit, cookies, chocolate, and vanilla drifts up on the nose. Height of mature, rich, and full flavour spreads firstly on the palate, and the rich, full-bodied flavour of intermingled sweet and sour follows. A lingering aftertaste of smoke and fruit hangs around for a long time.

Citrus aromas convey a clean nose and a soft, enduring flavour.
‘Yamazaki 12 Years old single malt whisky’ Key component malts(Sherry)50%alc.
Aged 12 years in sherry casks, this key malt is distinguished by its gorgeously, fruity aroma, sweet flavour, and bitter aftertaste.
‘Yamazaki 12 Years old single malt whisky’ Key component malts(White oak)50%alc.
Aged for 12 years in white oak puncheon casks, this key malt features a stout flavour with just a hint of sweetness.
‘Yamazaki 12 Years old single malt whisky’ Key component malts(Japanese oak <Mizunara>)50%alc.
Sweet, faint fragrances of this key malt evoke aromatic trees. While this is one of the components of Yamazaki 12 Years Old single malt whisky, it is usually used from a malt aged in the cask for roughly 20 years.
