Roppongi's Three Museums to Collaborate; Tokyo's New Heart for Art: "Art Triangle Roppongi"

With the arrival of two major museums early next year - The National Art Center, Tokyo (Director:HAYASHIDA Hideki; Opening 21 January, 2007) and the Suntory Museum of Art (Chairman: SAJI Nobutada;Opening next spring) - Roppongi is set to become established as one of Tokyo's major cultural centers. To celebrate, these two new museums, along with current Roppongi resident the Mori Art Museum (Director:David ELLIOTT), have agreed to work together to further promote art appreciation - both inside their galleries and beyond. The three museums will form the "Art Triangle Roppongi."

The first activity of Art Triangle Roppongi is to make a handy map, which will not only link the three museums, but will highlight some of the other cultural attractions in the vicinity. We hope that the map will encourage visitors to Roppongi to discover the many cultural treasures that exist not only in the three museums, but elsewhere too.

The Art Triangle Roppongi map, which will be completely bilingual (English and Japanese), is due for completion in December , 2006, and will be available at each of the museums and other venues in Roppongi.

The newly designed symbol mark for Art Triangle Roppongi (above) expresses the potential for linkage between the activities of the three museums, and also the potential for that collaboration to spread further into the community.
