Suntory Limited recently concluded an agreement to acquire all shares in Connecto Co., Ltd., offering herbal products under the Botanicals brand, among others.
Suntory leverages many years of R&D in health products, a field in which the company has been active since the 1990s. In this business, original Suntory ingredients and scientific technologies benefit nature, enrich people's lives, and contribute to better health. In 1993, Suntory developed Sesamin, a sesame-based nutritional supplement, and in 1999, Suntory's Consumer Health Products Division was established. In addition to mail-order sales of supplements, Suntory conducts a wide range of related business, including sales of natural beauty products under the Conoha brand launched in 2007.
Connecto Co., Ltd. was founded in 1996 with a corporate philosophy of supporting health and beauty through herbal therapies rooted in the power of herbs and plants. The company operates a chain of 35 stores in Japan focused on herbal teas and products under the Botanicals brand.
Suntory will capitalize on this move into herbal products business to develop health-related operations by promoting the Botanicals brand while creating and expanding new opportunities to reach consumers in retail settings.
