Sun Parasol Stars & Stripes, a new type of Mandevilla developed by Suntory Flowers Limited, was voted Favorite New Flowering Plant at the Tropical Plant Industry Exhibition. Held in Florida, United States, from January 15 to 17 this year, the event is one of the world's largest tropical plant exhibitions.
Sun Parasol flowers are currently available in about 16 countries worldwide. More than 10 million pots of these popular seedlings are sold annually. Sun Parasol Stars & Stripes is a new variety, developed by Suntory Flowers, that was introduced in 2007 in Europe and in January 2009 in the U.S. The name Stars & Stripes (synonymous with the American flag) derives from the red star-shaped petals, streaked with white stripes.
