"Suntory Tomi-no-oka Winery Tomi (White) 2006" Wins Silver at France's "Chardonnay du Monde" International Wine Competition

Suntory's "Tomi-no-oka Winery Tomi (White) 2006" has won a Silver Medal at the 16th Chardonnay du Monde international wine competition in France.

The Chardonnay du Monde competition, which takes place each year in the Bourgogne region of France, is an influential international Chardonnay-only competition, drawing entries from around the world.

"Tomi White 2006" uses 100% Chardonnay grapes, a variety originally from Europe. Suntory Tomi-no-oka Winery of Yamanashi Prefecture grows the grapes in its own vineyards. To achieve a mellow taste in this dry white wine, the grapes are carefully fermented in small barrels before spending about a year aging in French oak barrels. With an impressive tropical top note reminiscent of pineapple, Tomi White 2006 balances a honey-like sweetness and comfortably acidic taste in the mouth, with a nose that hints of aromatic barrels and a long-lasting fruity trail.
