Suntory Beverage & Food Limited and Nichirei Foods Inc. have reached agreement regarding the acquisition of Nichirei Foods' acerola beverage business.
As a result, Suntory Beverage & Food will next spring acquire the acerola beverage business of Nichirei Foods and begin manufacture and sales of the ”Nichirei Acerola Drink Series.” Acerola, the raw material, will continue to be provided by Nichirei Foods subsidiary, Nichirei Suco Inc.
Going forward, both companies will work together to further expand the acerola beverage business by leveraging the strengths of each company: Suntory's marketing power in the beverage business and Nichirei's procurement of acerola.
Suntory Beverage and Food is expanding its beverage business, which is the core of the Suntory Group, and has top-class brands across a wide range of categories, including BOSS, Suntory Oolong Tea, IYEMON, and Suntory Natural Water.
With the addition of acerola drinks, which have a unique positioning as that ”for health and beauty,” even within the fruit juice based beverage market, Suntory aims to further strengthen its portfolio in the beverage business.
