Making the Enjoyment of Sports Available at All Times

Suntory has organized its own company rugby and volleyball teams. These teams not only compete for the championship titles in their respective leagues, but they conduct a variety of community-based sports activities as well. Besides promoting sports through participation in sports organizations such as the J-League and V-League and conducting partnership activities with top athletes such as professional golfer Ai Miyazato, we view sports as a key communications avenue for deepening interaction with our customers.
The Suntory "Kid’s Dream Project" also includes a sports component. Activities in this area involve inviting top players from various sports to serve as instructors in children’s sports clinics.

"Sungoliath" Rugby Team

Suntory’s Sungoliath rugby team, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in April 2005, has won the Japanese Championship three times to date. Since the formation of the Sungoliath Friends fan club in 2002, the squad has been working even harder to win the title to thank its fans for their support.

"Sunbirds" Volleyball Team

The Suntory Sunbirds volleyball team set a new V-League record in 2004 by winning its fifth straight championship in this prestigious Japanese volleyball league. Besides practicing and competing, the team conducts volleyball classes for children and for women’s amateur teams to promote interest in the sport of volleyball and to create opportunities to interact with fans.

Golf and Baseball Event

Each year, we host the Suntory Open Golf Tournament, which dates back to 1973, and the We Love Kobe—Suntory Ladies’ Open Golf Tournament, which maintains close ties with the community. The Malt’s Dream Match baseball game held every summer, meanwhile, has become a popular attraction for both baseball fans and beer lovers.

Various Sports Sponsorships

Agreeing fully with the J-League’s "100-Year Vision" philosophy, Suntory has cooperated with the Japanese professional soccer league as an official sponsor since its foundation. We also conduct partnership activities with such top athletes as marine adventurer Kenichi Horie, pro skier Yuichiro Miura and pro golfer Ai Miyazato to communicate the splendor of sports.

Suntory "Kid’s Dream Project"

Suntory organizes the Suntory Kid’s Sports Academy involving players and coaches invited from various sports, the Suntory J-League Sports Clinic conducted in corporation with the J-League and other activities. We hope the opportunities they provide will inspire children to dream big and develop an appreciation of the fun and excitement of sports and a spirit of fair play. We also provide support for elementary school children’s national tag rugby and volleyball tournaments.
