EXPLORING THE ART OF JAPANESE WHISKY

The artisans of Japan exemplify respect and humility.

Coming from a family of veritable amateur whisky enthusiasts, Nils Tavernier encountered Japanese whisky many times throughout his life without understanding its finesse or philosophy. It was not until his recent encounter with the artisans at La Maison Suntory that he discovered their great respect for each component of the whisky, and for the subtle refinement of its taste. Having filmed in Japan many times, recounting its respect for nature and its working heritage, Nils Tavernier was the natural candidate for directing a film about Suntory. As with any of his projects, the human encounter was key. It was their genuine sincerity that convinced him; the authentic spirit and undeniably rich human element emanating from the production at this House. At Suntory, he witnessed the pursuit of excellence and commitment to perfection throughout the whisky-making process.
The artisans demonstrated their proud duty to this great House and its unique products, with an assertive sincerity and humility. There is an art to this whisky - an art in harmonising ancestral values founded on respect for nature and for human nature: the Art of Japanese Whisky.

To tell the story of Suntory's savoir-faire: tracing human experience with profound sincerity.
