Tomi (Red)

A superb, luxuriously flavored wine combining robust body with a delicate taste. Blended exquisitely from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and other grape varieties cultivated under a meticulous low-yield regime at Tomi no Oka's own vineyard.

[Vintage Notes]

Tomi no Oka received less total rainfall in 2005. Temperatures were about average throughout the growing season, but we started harvesting one week later than usual since the year had fewer high-temperature days. The delayed growth allowed the grapes to approach perfect ripeness slowly, with gradual sugar accumulation and acid reduction, while fostering signature aromatics. Smaller fruit and thicker skins give this vintage rich color, which is further accentuated by aggressive tannins.

[Tasting notes]

Complex but harmonious aromas of dried fruit, including blackberry and dark plum, with notes of coffee and coconut from oak aging. Tannins provide a lasting velvety mouthfeel and smooth acidity, and the long finish ends with a sweet aroma of chocolate.
