Tomi (White)
A superb wine featuring an elegant, mellow flavor. Made using 100% Chardonnay grapes grown under a meticulous low-yield regime at Tomi no Oka's own vineyard and aged after fermenting gradually in French oak barriques.
Tomi (White) 2006
[Vintage Notes]
The year 2006 brought a long, unbroken series of low-temperature days, testing the technical skill of viticulturists. The cool trend that began during the spring lasted until July, delaying growth from 10 days to 2 weeks compared to average years. Although rainfall was consistent with long-term annual averages, insufficient sunshine resulted in small grapes and bunches, necessitating efforts to restore healthy growth of vines during grape maturation through aggressive pruning and other measures. The weather improved starting in October, providing sufficient sunlight exposure for the grapes to ripen properly.
[Tasting notes]
The strong, rich nose displays tropical overtones that evoke pineapples mingled with a sweet honey-like aroma. The wine is mellow on the palate with a refreshing aftertaste and lingering fruity finish.
