The people of Beam Suntory are the custodians of brands with histories measured in centuries. In 1795, a farmer and grain mill operator named Jacob Beam produced the first barrel of whiskey that would become Jim Beam, the world’s #1 bourbon brand, now overseen by seventh generation Beam family Master Distiller Fred Noe. The history of Suntory began in 1899 when the founder Shinjiro Torii started producing sweet wines. He then courageously produced the first Japanese whisky and today, Suntory is the No.1 whisky distiller in Japan, known for its flagship single malt whisky Yamazaki, Hakushu and the blended whisky Hibiki. Suntory has at its core a “Yatte Minahare” spirit that encourages its team to dream big and pursue ambitious goals … the very same values and entrepreneurial spirit that built Beam for more than 200 years and that guide Beam Suntory as a global leader in premium spirits.

We are the second largest spirits company in the US, where we craft our industry leading bourbons, led by Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark. In the US, we’re sharply focused on cities as sources of industry growth, and driving more and more sales from premium products.
We are the market leader in Japan, where we produce the Japanese whisky brands that are gaining a very strong reputation from consumers around the world for their quality and craftsmanship. In Japan, we’re continuing to create new consumption occasions for whisky, fueling sales of Japanese whisky, and firmly establishing Bourbon as a growth platform.
We possess strong positions across major developed spirits markets, including large bourbon export markets such as Australia, which anchors our strength in Oceania, and Germany, our largest market in Europe. We’re also building strength across developed markets such as the United Kingdom, where bourbon is growing in popularity, and Spain, where Larios gin gives us a significant growth platform in addition to whisky.
