Our brands include the iconic Jim Beam and Maker's Mark bourbon brands, Courvoisier cognac, and the Suntory whisky Kakubin, as well as world renowned premium brands, our Knob Creek bourbon, Japanese whiskies Yamazaki, Hakushu, Hibiki, and Toki, Scotch whiskies of Teacher's, Laphroaig and Bowmore, Canadian Club whisky, Hornitos and Sauza tequila, EFFEN and Haku vodka, Sipsmith and ROKU gin, and Midori liqueur.
Our visionary Beam Suntory entrepreneurs have driven our Beam Suntory brands for centuries. In 1795, Jacob Beam, farmer and grain mill operator, produced the first barrel of whiskey. This barrel would become Jim Beam, the world's #1 bourbon brand, which is currently overseen by seventh generation Beam family Master Distiller Fred Noe. Suntory was established in 1899, when founder Shinjiro Torii started producing sweet wines. He then went above and beyond to produce the first Japanese whisky. Today, Suntory is a leading whisky distiller in Japan and is known for its flagship single malt whiskies Yamazaki and Hakushu, and the blended whisky Hibiki. Suntory has at its core a "Yatte Minahare"
spirit that encourages its team to dream big and pursue new possibilities. These are the very same values and entrepreneurial spirit that Beam has built itself on for more than 200 years and which guide Beam Suntory as a global leader in premium spirits.
Beam Suntory's corporate social responsibility efforts focus on three primary areas: protecting water and the environment, supporting the communities where our people live and work, and promoting responsible consumption of our products.
Beam Suntory's growth is driven by our Vision Into Action strategy. We aim to outperform our global market and become the world's most admired and fastest growing premium spirits company.
Beam Suntory has excellent scale in our two largest markets, the United States and Japan.
We are the second largest spirits company in the US, where we craft our industry leading bourbons, led by Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark. In the US, we’re sharply focused on cities as sources of industry growth, and driving more and more sales from premium products.
We are the market leader in Japan, where we produce the Japanese whisky brands that are gaining a very strong reputation from consumers around the world for their quality and craftsmanship. In Japan, we’re continuing to create new consumption occasions for whisky, fueling sales of Japanese whisky, and firmly establishing Bourbon as a growth platform.
And our Courvoisier cognac is building reputation as luxury lifestyle brand in the U.S. China, Russia and beyond.
We possess strong positions across major developed spirits markets, including large bourbon export markets such as Australia, which anchors our strength in Oceania, and Germany, our largest market in Europe. We’re also building strength across developed markets such as the United Kingdom, where bourbon is growing in popularity, and Spain, where Larios gin gives us a significant growth platform in addition to whisky.
Key emerging markets drive significant value for our company, including India where we are leveraging Teacher’s leading position in one of the world’s biggest Scotch markets to drive growth; Russia, where we continue to grow our market share led by Courvoisier, Jim Beam and our premium whisky portfolio; and Southeast Asia and China, where the highball drinking style creates long-term growth opportunities. And we are growing our presence in emerging e-commerce platform.
Behind our brands are our number one priority, the 4,500 people of Beam Suntory. From our distilleries to our R&D centers, from our sales force to our commercial offices, it’s the energy, passion and commitment of our people that underpins our confidence in the bright future that lies ahead for Beam Suntory.
