Wiener Musikverein (Wiener Philharmoniker)

In October 2006, Suntory Hall partnered with the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna, which owns and manages the Musikverein Saal (home to the Wiener Philharmoniker), with the intent to leverage artistic programming and the ideas of the two venues mutually for promoting the musical culture of Austria and Japan.

The plaque commemorating the partnership is displayed on the wall of the foyer of the Main Hall.

The Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien (The Society of Friends of Music in Vienna) and Suntory Hall pledge in this partnership agreement to contribute to the further strengthening cultural ties between Austria and Japan.

Wiener Philharmoniker Week in Japan

Suntory Hall and the Wiener Philharmoniker have been co-producing regular "Wiener Philharmoniker Week" since 1999, with common desire of musical culture to flourish. In addition to Philharmoniker concerts in the Main Hall, variety of programs for future audience and musicians are prepared.

Vienna Philharmonic & Suntory Music Aid Fund

The Fund was established after the Great East Japan Earthquake to support the restoration activities through music, and the members of the Philharmoniker continuously visit the affected area.

Carnegie Hall

In September 2006, Suntory Hall and Carnegie Hall agreed to a partnership for international exchange of educational programs. Based on this agreement, Suntory Hall brought "Carnegie Kids" and "Professional Training Workshop", the innovative programs developed by Carnegie Hall which have more than 110 thousands participants a year.

Carnegie Kids

Since 2008 we have produced "Carnegie Kids", a program for kids in 3-6 years old developed by Carnegie Hall. Young promising musicians invited from the U.S. presented the fertility and pleasure of music through performance and humorous actions.

Professional Training Workshop

Having the leading US pianist Leon Fleisher as the instructor, young artists aspiring the advanced career directly learned musical interpretation, playing technique as well as skills and ideas to survive as musicians, in a week long Professional Training Workshop 2009.

The New Network "Esplanade"

Suntory Hall and Esplanade ― Theatres on the Bay, Singapore ― have embarked on several projects together, to showcase young talents and encourage the sharing and exchange of artistic ideas in Asia.

The first project between the two venues took place in April 2015; an organ concert titled Pipes in Harmony, co-produced by Suntory Hall at Esplanade. The year 2016 will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-Singapore diplomatic relations, Esplanade will present a Suntory Hall production HIMIKO ― Ancient Pageant (※) that premiered in November 2014 at Suntory Hall.

Also, selected members from both sides, Suntory Hall Chamber Music Academy Fellow and students of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of National University of Singapore, visited each other and had joint concerts in two countries.

※Himiko, which received its world premiere at Suntory Hall in November 2014, is an original stage work fusing Western Classical Music, Japanese Traditional Music, Kabuki and Japanese Classical Dance.
