Suntory Begins Inviting Grant Applications for the "2nd Vienna Philharmonic & Suntory Music Aid Award"


The Suntory Foundation for Arts (Director Generals: Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Shingo Torii) begins inviting grant applications for the "2nd Vienna Philharmonic & Suntory Music Aid Award" as a promotion service of the "Vienna Philharmonic & Suntory Music Aid Fund"

To continue efforts to energize the disaster-stricken areas and the nation through the revitalization of Japanese music culture, the Music Aid Award will call for applications from groups and individuals throughout Japan conducting activities that meet the objectives of the Fund. It will present the award for ten years, beginning from 2012.

A grant will be awarded to the group recipients conducting the activities. Also, when desired, members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra will participate in the group activities, such as concerts and coaching musical performances.
Determination of the award recipients is scheduled for October 2013.

Eligible Activities

Activities such as musical performances and efforts to promote music, that focus on classical music held in Japan from November 1, 2013 through October 31, 2014 with the aim of supporting reconstruction.

Aid

1.Awarding of a grant (totaling 10 million yen/year)

  • *The first grant award provided a total of 10,080,000 yen to 14 activities

2.Participation in activities by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

  • *If so desired by award recipients.
