Introducing the New Blood Orangina, a rich, premium flavor made using carefully selected blood oranges from Sicily
Suntory Beverage & Food Limited (SBF) announces the nationwide launch of a new lineup in the Orangina brand, Blood Orangina, which will hit stores on March 29, 2016 (Tuesday) in Japan.
Orangina is a carbonated beverage containing fruit juice that has been a long-time favorite since it was first introduced in France. The drink was launched in Japan in 2012 and is popular for its fresh orange flavor and natural bitterness that is derived from orange peel extract. Last year, Lemongina was launched as the first new flavor for the Japanese market and sales of the Orangina brand increased significantly, growing 39% year on year.
Following up on Lemongina, SBF will release Blood Orangina as the latest addition to the Orangina lineup. Made with rare blood oranges carefully selected from Sicily, new Blood Orangina offers a rich, premium flavor.
●Characteristics of the product’s flavor
Cultivated in the fertile volcanic ash soil of Sicily, we use only the juice of blood oranges* handpicked one at a time in the mornings. Using a proprietary blending technology to add orange, lemon, and grapefruit as well as the mild aroma of spices, we achieved a rich, profound aroma and flavor.
*Blood oranges are a type of citrus produced mainly in the Italian Mediterranean region that are unique for the red color of their fruit. Blood oranges represent approximately 0.3% of orange production volume.
An originally designed bottle, unique to the Orangina brand, will be used. We used a black and gold label to represent adult mature refinement. The cardboard boxes also feature a red and black design as a representation of the blood orange.
