No. 7726 August 29 Suntory is launching a special "present campaign" from mid-September to promote sales of a wide variety of famous spirits and liqueurs, which it distributes. The firm will give away up to 300 gift sets featuring 20 different kinds of spirits and liqueurs in miniature bottles. The beverages come in an attractive wooden cabinet and include a cocktail recipe book. The company will also give away 2,000 copies of the cocktail recipe book alone. The campaign is designed to promote sales of Kahlua (200 ml & 350 ml), CAMPARI (200 ml & 375 ml), Lejay Cassis (200 ml), Paraiso Litchi (200 ml), BEEFEATER Dry Gin (200 ml) and Stolichnaya Vodka (500 ml). The campaign will last for approximately two months. No. 7725 August 29 Suntory will give away mobile phones to 20,000 people from September 11 to promote its BOSS canned coffee. The phone is the latest model from NTT DoCoMo. It is colored gold and adorned with the BOSS 7 logo. The campaign, which lasts until December 8, is designed to promote all BOSS products, including BOSS Super Blend, BOSS Seven, BOSS Plus One, BOSS Black, BOSS Cafe au Lait, BOSS Sharp, BOSS 250 and BOSS 350. To win, entrants must collect 12 proof-of-purchase stickers (There's one on each can of BOSS coffee.) and send them to the company, along with a postcard bearing their name, address and phone number. Winners will be chosen via lottery. No. 7724 August 29 Suntory is launching a new "present campaign" to promote sales of its popular Magnum Dry and Super Hops beer. The campaign kicks off at the end of September and features a leather jacket embossed with the MD (Magnum Dry) logo. Consumers can receive the elegant garment either by lottery or by collecting a certain number of proof-of-purchase stickers and paying some money. The campaign lasts until November 30. Approximately 30 million cases of Magnum Dry were sold in the first 14 months after its launch in June of last year. In July, sales hit a new record for the second-straight month year-on-year, leaping 50% to 3.24 million cases. No. 7723 August 28 The Suntory Music Foundation has announced the winner of the 10th Annual Akutagawa Composition Award. The winner is Ms Misato Mochizuki, author of "Camera Lucida (?)." Mochizuki won a top prize of 500,000 yen. The award ceremony was held at Suntory Hall on August 27, 2000. The Akutagawa Composition Award was established in 1990 to promote the work of composers in Japan. No. 7722 August 22 Suntory will promote its ARIGATO vegetable- and fruit-mixed juice from mid-September through mid-October. Each 930 gram plastic bottle of ARIGATO will come with a magnet and memo pad decorated with an illustration of vegetables and fruits. The product, which was launched in March 2000, is a blend of tomatoes, spinach, cabbage, parsley, apple, lemon and grapefruit. It contains three different kinds of vitamin, including B1, B2 and C. No. 7721 August 22 Suntory will kick off a campaign to promote Bikkle, a yogurt-type health drink, from mid-September. For the following month, the firm will affix small seals to 280 ml plastic bottles of the drink that present useful information in quiz form. Originally launched in 1993, Bikkle contains special ingredients which aid digestion. . No. 7720 August 22 Suntory will begin a promotional campaign for its SHIMIJIMI RYOKUCHA green tea from mid-September. A portable phone antenna decoration-in the shape of a cat mascot-will be given away with each purchase of a 500ml container during the month-long campaign period. Six different types of cat mascots will be given away. SHIMIJIMI RYOKUCHA was initially introduced last March.. No. 7719 August 22 Suntory will sponsor a campaign from mid-September to promote sales of its Nacchan Orange soft drink. During the month-long campaign, each 500ml container of Nacchan Orange will be sold with a special gift. They include a key holder in several styles as well as a variety of cell phone accessories that include an antenna decoration and various carrying straps. No. 7718 August 22 In March, Suntory launched DAKARA, a new type of health drink featuring well-balanced nutritional supplements. From mid-September to Oct. 1, the company will conduct a "present campaign" to promote sales of the drink in 1.5 liter and 500 ml plastic bottle sizes. During the period, Suntory will give away either a large paper clasp or refrigerator magnet bearing the DAKARA symbol and mascot with every purchase of a 1.5 liter plastic bottle. A special seal, which measures salt and fat content in food, will be given away with every 500 ml plastic bottle of the drink. No. 7717 August 22 Suntory will conduct a "present campaign" from mid-September through mid-November to promote PEPSI COLA and DIET PEPSI. During the period, the company will give away PEPSI MAN TOKO-TOKO CAN HELPER, a wind-up plastic figure of Pepsi Man connected to a wheeled beverage cart, upon which the user can place his/her Pepsi (in 350 ml can size). The prize will be given away via raffle. No. 7716 August 22 Suntory will conduct a campaign to promote sales of its mainstay whisky dubbed KAKUBIN from mid-September through November 17. The company will promote the product by giving away 1,000 specially designed Zippo lighters and 1,000 leather business bags, to a total of 2,000 applicants during the campaign period. KAKUBIN has been around for over 60 years and is one of Suntory's longest selling brands. No. 7715 August 22 Suntory will begin marketing WHITE <super CLEAN> WHISKY & WATER on August 29. A 350 ml premix can will retail for 180 yen. The product is mellow and full-bodied due to its use of 100% pure, natural water. No. 7714 August 22 Suntory will begin marketing Totteoki Kajitsu-no Osake Hosui Nashi Shu (pear liqueur) and Totteoki Kajitsu-no Osake Sumomo Shu (Japanese plum liqueur) on September 5 for a limited time during Autumn to boost the company's fruit-based premix liqueur operations. A 250ml can will retail for 194 yen. No. 7713 August 22 Suntory will begin selling six new California wines from September 19. Both Franzia Red (light bodied) & White (medium dry) will be available in 750 ml, 1.5 liter and 3 liter bottles, with retailers determining the sales prices, while Corbett Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon 1999 (Red & medium bodied), Corbett Canyon Merlot 1999 (Red & medium bodied), Corbett Canyon Chardonnay 1999 (White & medium dry) and Corbett Canyon White Zinfandel 1999 (White & semi-sweet) will be priced at 1,040 yen for a 750 ml bottle. On September 12, Suntory will add Wine Cafe Muscat (White & semi sweet) to its Wine Cafe product line. A 500 ml bottle will retail for 490 yen. No. 7712 August 22 Suntory will introduce a 2 liter plastic bottle of Shimijimi Ryoku-cha (330 yen) and the new flavor Banana Bikkle (130 yen) in a 280 ml plastic bottle on September 19. On September 26, the company will introduce Nacchan Hachimitsu Lemon in a 250 ml paper pack (100 yen). Also, Nacchan Orange (180 yen) and Bikkle (200 yen) will start to sell in three 125 ml paper pack sets from September 12. No. 7711 August 22 Suntory will launch Za, a new whisky made of malt without the husk on September 5. The product's rich flavor goes well with Japanese food, because it is aged in casks made of Japanese cedar. Suntory is now applying for a patent for its use of cedar casks. A 700 ml bottle of Za (containing 40% alcohol) will sell for 1,880 yen, while 180 ml and 50 ml bottles will retail for 550 yen and 220 yen, respectively. No. 7710 August 22 Suntory will begin selling a premium grade whisky in commemoration of the 21st century. The company will begin taking orders for the product, dubbed The Century Aged 40 Years, from August 22. The pure malt whisky has been aged in an oak cask for over 40 years. Only 300 bottles of the product will be sold. It will be marketed in a crystal decanter and come with a crystal glass and a certificate that bears the serial number (ZD0550) of the 40-year-old cask. Each decanter will bear the serial number as well and the purchaser can have his/her initials engraved on the decanter and the glass. A 700 ml crystal decanter of The Century Aged 40 Years, with an alcohol content of 43%, will retail for a premium price of 500,000 yen. No. 7709 August 10 The Suntory Music Foundation will hold the 31st Suntory Music Award Commemorative Concert at Suntory Hall on September 5. The event will feature Akira Miyoshi, a classical music composer who won the Suntory Music Award in 1999. Founded in 1969 to mark Suntory's 70th anniversary, the foundation promotes a variety of events involving classical music in Japan. The company created the Suntory Music Award the same year to recognize services that contribute to the development of Western classical music in Japan. No. 7708 August 8 Suntory will begin marketing Kyokkei Hanahori, a genuine shoko-shu, from September 5. Shoko-shu is a traditional Chinese spirit dating back 2,300 years. The product is made by one of China's biggest shoko-shu makers. The distillery has won a number of gold prizes in international competitions based on its outstanding blending techniques. A 640 ml bottle of Kyokkei Hanahori, which is aged for more than three years, will sell for 625 yen. No. 7707 August 4 Suntory's Museum of Art will hold an exhibition of 80 paintings on folding screens, fans and picture scrolls from September 5 until October 22. The artwork depicts figures from ancient Japanese and Chinese folktales. The exhibition is open daily (excluding Mondays) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Friday until 7 p.m.). However, the exhibit will be open on Monday, October 9. Admission: 1,000 yen for adults, 800 yen for university students, 600 yen for high school and junior high school students. The key holders come in either black or brown, and they bear the Reserve logo. A 750 ml bottle of Suntory Whisky Reserve 10 Years retails for 2,230 yen, while a 700 ml bottle of Suntory Whisky Reserve 10 Years in Sherry Cask sells for 2,100 yen.
