Suntory Launching HIBIKI Campaign


Suntory will launch a campaign at the beginning of March to promote sales of its HIBIKI brand whisky. The campaign includes a lottery featuring such luxurious prizes as a trip for two to Hong Kong, an overnight stay at a Japanese-style prefectural inn, and food products from local prefectures. The campaign will conclude on June 30 and encompass all parts of the country, with the exception of Aichi and Hokkaido.

Suntory launching J-Suntory


On March 1, Suntory will launch a website specifically designed to be viewed on mobile phones manufactured by J-phone East Co., Ltd. The site, dubbed J-Suntory, will contain a variety of information on Suntory cocktail products and can be viewed free of charge. For a fee of 100 yen per month, J-phone users can obtain a diary function via the website. The pay service is the first to be adopted by J-phone.

Suntory Launching Whisky Royal Present Campaign


Suntory will launch a present campaign to promote sales of Suntory Whisky Royal 12 Years and Royal Premium 15 Years. The campaign will run from mid-March through May 18. During the campaign, the company will give away 100 Innovator swing chairs and 2,900 Baccarat whisky glasses through a lottery.

Suntory introduced Royal in 1960. It has since become one of Japan's best-selling premium whisky brands.

Suntory to Market Low-Alcohol Beverage


Suntory will begin marketing Suntory ALEX, a lemon flavored alcoholic beverage, on March 13. A 250ml bottle, containing only 4% alcohol, will retail for 230 yen. Low-alcohol beverages are becoming increasingly popular with Japan's younger generation.

Suntory to Hold Special Exhibition


The Suntory Museum of Art will hold a special exhibition titled "Rinpa and Tea Utensils From Manno Collection" (April 17 through June 3) to commemorate the museum's 40th anniversary. The masterpieces of artists who were active during the Edo period will be displayed, along with precious utensils used for the tea ceremony. A total of 121 exhibits will be on display.

Suntory to Hold Blend Workshop at Distillery


Suntory will hold a total of 13 workshops on whisky blending at two of its distilleries beginning on March 30. The two facilities are the "Hakushu" distillery in Yamanashi Prefecture and the "Yamazaki" distillery in Osaka Prefecture. The workshops will take place over a three-week period and conclude on April 22. Anyone over the age of 20 is invited to participate. The fee is 10,000 yen and up to 20 seats are available for each workshop.

Suntory Launching PEANUTS PEPSI Campaign


Suntory will start a campaign, which uses Snoopy from the PEANUTS comic strip to promote sales of PEPSI & Diet PEPSI. Each 500 ml and 1.5 liter plastic bottle of the products will come with a Snoopy bottlecap. A total of 30 different bottlecap varieties are available. The campaign will last for approximately two weeks from the end of March. Also from mid-April, Suntory will give away 12 types of PEANUTS coasters with every purchase of a 1.5 liter plastic bottle of a PEPSI product.

Suntory to Expand Cocktail Bar CB


Suntory will add three new items to its Cocktail Bar CB line-up on March 6. The new items include Apple Kiss (Apple & Vodka), Moonlight Kiss (Grape & Yogurt) and Lemon Kiss (Lemon & Yogurt). A 250 ml bottle will sell for 210 yen.

Suntory Widening Wine Product Line


In response to widening consumer demand for wine, Suntory will begin marketing on March 13 "Vieux Papse Red/White (750ml)," "Cambras Red/White (750ml)" and "Chablis White (750ml)" from France, "ALBOR Red/White (750ml)" from Spain and, "Peach and Mango (500ml: 580 yen)" and "Orange and Passion fruit (500ml: 580 yen)" from Suntory's fruit wine selection. The French and Spanish wines will retail on a open-price basis.

Suntory Launching PEPSI Campaign


Suntory will sponsor a "PEPSI TASTE CHALLENGE" from March 23 through August to promote sales of PEPSI and DIET PEPSI. The campaign will take place in major cities across Japan, including Sapporo, Sendai, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. Approximately 700,000 consumers are expected to take part.

Suntory Marketing Special "Yomiuri" Beer


On April 3, Suntory will begin marketing "V2 Yomiuri Giants 2001 Beer," a special limited edition canned beer which commemorates Japan's most popular baseball team. A 350ml can will retail for 218 yen.

Suntory introduced a similar beer on behalf of the Yomiuri Giants and their fans in 1994. The Yomiuri Giants have won a number of national championships and are the most successful team in Japanese professional baseball.

Suntory to Kick Off Spring Promo


Suntory will start a promotional campaign targeting its whisky and brandy products, including Reserve, Old, Kakubin and V.S.O.P from mid-April. During the course of the campaign, the company will give away 4,500 items via an instant lottery. Prizes include a backpack, fleece blanket, a set of knives and forks, and a Polaroid camera. Each bottle of the aforementioned products will come with a leaflet containing information on the instant lottery. The first prize winner will receive 10,000 yen worth of travel coupons. The campaign ends May 31.

Suntory to Market DRAMBUIE CREME


Suntory will start selling DRAMBUIE premium creme liqueur from February 20. DRAMBUIE is a blend of Scotch malt whisky aged over 15 years, honey made out of heath, herbs, spices, and fresh creme. It is one of best known English liqueurs. A 700 ml bottle of DRAMBUIE Crème will retail for 2,480 yen, while a 50 ml bottle will sell for 240 yen.

Suntory to Start MALT'S Double Chance Campaign


Suntory will start a promotional campaign on behalf of MALT'S beer from the beginning of March. Original goods, including a T-shirt, anorak, stadium jumper, and an ice chest-all embossed with the MALT'S logo-will be given away to consumers who collect a certain number of proof-of-purchase seals and enter a lottery. A pair of Arita or Kutani ceramic tumblers and a beer glass with the owners initials engraved into them, will also be given away as prizes. At the same time, a total of 3,000 lottery entrants will have a chance to win quality electronic goods, such as an NEC palm-sized PC, a SONY digital camera or a Sony home theater system with DVD player. The campaign lasts until May 31.

Suntory Kicking Off Whisky Promo


Suntory will conduct a promotional campaign on behalf of its Zen and Za brand whisky products from mid-February through mid-March. During the campaign, Suntory will give away an original whisky glass with each purchase of the aforementioned products. A 640ml bottle of Zen and a 700ml bottle of Za are priced at 1,200 yen and 1,880 yen, respectively.

Suntory Marketing New "Ume"-based Spirit


Suntory will begin marketing a new spirit flavored with "Ume" (Japanese apricot). The product is dubbed Kari Kari Koume-Fumi-no Osake and it goes on sale February 20. A 250ml can will retail for 198 yen.

Backed by a health and fitness trend that has spanned the past few years, pickled Ume is once again attracting public attention. The product has long been regarded as a natural health product.

Suntory Improving Shochu Product


Suntory will begin marketing "SUPER CHU-HI ," a Shochu-based alcoholic drink, on February 20. A 250ml can will retail for 115 yen.

The company launched SUNTORY SUPER CHU-HI in 1999 and it sold 14 million cases of the canned product in 2000. The product has become Japan's top-selling Shochu-based alcoholic drink. Suntory is currently marketing SUPER CHU-HI in 350ml and 500ml cans.
