On November 4 Suntory begins marketing Suntory Whisky SHIN-OLD "The Year of The Monkey" Label (700ml: 1,510 yen), Suntory Whisky ROYAL 12-Year Old "The Year of The Monkey" Label (700ml: 3,000 yen), Suntory Whisky ROYAL 12-Year Old "The Year of The Monkey" Bottle (600ml: 6,000 yen) and Suntory Whisky ROYAL PREMIUM 15-Year Old "The Year of The Monkey" Red Bottle (600ml: 10,000 yen). Astrological whisky has been popular for more than 20 years and is ideal for a new-year gift.

From October 28 Suntory starts marketing ROSSO E NERO caffe?L latte at convenience stores in Tokyo and ten prefectures. ROSSO E NERO is "chilled cup coffee" that is made from special ingredients and process to maintain its real fresh taste and aroma. 200ml cup of the high quality, solid and rich coffee with mild milk retails at 150 yen.

Suntory Museum of Art Exhibits "Tsutsugaki: Indigo to Pray Happiness, Cloth to Bring Fortune"


From December 2 to January 25 Suntory Museum of Art exhibits "Tsutsugaki: Indigo to Pray Happiness, Cloth to Bring Fortune (provisional title)" that introduces 80 Tsutsugaki artifacts that are cloths dyed to show usually auspicious designs by placing resist paste. The technique of dyeing leading to one unique design became popular from the middle of Edo era to Meiji era for special happy occasions as marriage or celebration of a new-born baby.

Suntory Foundation Accepting Entries for 2003 Funding


The Suntory Foundation has begun accepting entries for its annual "foreign publication funds." Each year Suntory funds translations of specific literary works into foreign languages or overseas publications of works in the field of social and cultural sciences in order to promote cultural exchanges and improve international understandings of Japan. The amount of each funding is 5 million yen given to approximately 10 recipients. An application form can be downloaded at http://suntory.jp/foundation/. The deadline for application is December 1.

Specially Packaged 21-year-old HIBIKI Reserve Makes Ideal Gift


From the beginning of December Suntory begins marketing its 21-year-old HIBIKI reserve whisky in specially designed bottles. The premium class whisky that was ranked as number-one Japanese whisky by notable "Whisky Magazine" will be packaged in 600ml Arita and Kutani porcelain containers and will be ideal for the end-of-the-year's or new-year's gift. Both products will be priced at 30,000 yen with sales limited to 1000 bottles each.

From November 11 Suntory starts marketing 3 flavors of canned THE COCKTAIL BAR. Bottled THE COCKTAIL BAR series has been popular for more than 10 years among people who would love to enjoy cocktail at home. For easier enjoyment Screw Driver, Cassis Wine Splitza and Strawberry Sparkling flavors will be sold in 350/500ml cans for 140/190 yen.

Exhibition Held to Commemorate 80th Year of Japanese Whisky


From October 1 Suntory holds exhibition to commemorate 80th year of Japanese whisky making at Yamazaki and Hakushu Distilleries. The exhibition introduces the dawn of Japanese whisky making and 80 years thereafter. "Father of Japanese whisky" and the founder of Suntory, Shinjiro Torii, and other master blenders that followed his footsteps will be revealed.

Suntory Hakuhsu Distillery Holds Special Event to Celebrate its 30th Anniversary


On October 12 Suntory Hakushu Distillery opens for special event celebrating its 30th anniversary, ?Whiskey School in Forest: Fall 2003?, that let adult visitors enjoy several aspects of whiskey. Visitors can enjoy tasting of 30-year old unblended malt whisky, making smoked products with chips of cask, talking with whisky producers, whisky workshop, special guide tour, cask assembling and disassembling experience, Hakushu forest walking tour and more. On the day free shuttle bus runs to/from JR Kobuchizawa station and Hakushu Distillery.

From September 20 Suntory starts broadcasting new TV commercial for KAKUBIN, a long-selling whisky brand that has attracted its fans for more than 60 years. In this commercial, representing"cool man," a Japanese pop singer, Tomoyasu Hotei, drinks KAKUBIN at the end of the day to look back the day and to be healed.

New TV Commercial Series for BOSS in its Second Stage


From September 18 Suntory starts broadcasting new TV commercial for BOSS, coffee for workingmen, in connection with the release of BOSS: ON BUSINESS and INTERMISSION. In this commercial a Japanese pop singer, Ayumi Hamasaki, starts a gun duel against an actor, Yoshio Harada, and eventually ends up in drinking new BOSS.

Suntory to Transfer Stocks of MacGregor Golf Japan Limited


Suntory and MacGregor Golf Company has agreed on Suntory to transfer all of its stocks of its subsidiary, MacGregor Golf Japan, to MacGregor Golf Company as of the end of September. By this transfer MacGregor Golf Japan will start its business as subsidiary wholly owned by MacGregor Golf Company and start marketing both MAC TEC and Tourney brands worldwide.

Suntory Decided Reorganization and Personnel Change


At the extraordinary meeting of shareholders and a board meeting held on September 11 Suntory decided some personnel change including the appointment of Katsumaro Chikushi to the executive managing director. Along it was decided to reorganize the company to consisting three main divisions namely, Company, Corporate, and Business Support to strengthen its business management structure.

Along from the middle of October TORYS present campaign starts that presents one desk calendar with the illustration of Uncle Torys with every purchase of 700ml bottle of TORYS SQUARE (910 yen). From September 13 new TV commercial will be on air to appeal wonderful taste of TORYS.

From November 13 Suntory starts marketing BEER NOUVEAU 2003 (350/500ml can, 218/286yen), fresh new beer that is made 100% from Japanese barley and bitter hop and German Hallertau hop harvested this year. For its selected fresh ingredients the beer will be produced only a limited number.

Suntory will introduce seven beverages for this fall season. The lineup includes: HOT OOLONG TEA in 350ml PET bottles for 134 yen; HOTTOYA-OCHA HOJIJITATE (roasted green tea) in 350ml PET bottles for 134 yen; LATTE LATTE HOT in 280ml PET bottles for 134 yen; LIPTON LIMONE HOT in 280ml PET bottles for 130 yen; HOTTODE-TORORI HOT LEMON/HOT RINGO (apple) in 280ml PET bottles for 124 yen; and HOT TOMOROKOSHI (corn) POTAGE in 190g can for 115 yen. All products will be available from September 30 except HOT OOLONG TEA and HOTTOYA-OCHA HOJIJITATE that will be in market from the middle of October.

From September 11 a commercial for Suntory CHU-HI CALORI will be broadcasted on TV to notify its appearance in market from September 17. In the commercial Japanese popular actress, Yuka, jumps and skips to express lightness, freshness and healthiness of CALORI that is 50% less calorie than the same flavor of regular Suntory CHU-HI.

Blood Flow Improved with French Maritime Pine Bark Extract


(Suntory) Institute for Food & Beverage Health Science Laboratory together with Kyushu University and Tokyo Women's Medical University confirmed that by taking in French maritime pine bark extract blood flow improves thus symptoms as poor circulation, stiffness and swelling alleviate. In addition lever function may improve as well. The extract is 600 times antioxidant than vitamin C. The result was presented at The 44th Japanese Society of Human Dry Dock held in Kyoto from August 28 to 29.
