Suntory Expands “Forest of Natural Water” Project to
Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture

Suntory Limited will begin a “Forest of Natural Water” project in Hongu Town, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, as part of company initiatives toward conservation of the global environment.

The new “Forest of Natural Water” project is part of Wakayama Prefecture's “Corporate Forest” program,* intended to protect the forest environment. Suntory will actively work to maintain and develop the forest environment in cooperation with area citizens and government officials. The project will be ready to launch by the end of the year, and starting around next March, Suntory employees and local children will begin tree planting and other activities.
Suntory started water resource cultivation projects in 2003 with its Suntory “Forest of Natural Water” project in Kumamoto Prefecture. In 2004 we adopted the slogan “Water for Life, Suntory” and have also begun water resource cultivation projects in Gunma and Yamanashi prefectures. Suntory is committed to continuing these and similar projects in the future.

A program intended to protect the forest environment by lending forest lands in the prefecture to businesses, labor unions and others, free of charge, and working with those groups to help damaged forests recover. Businesses, in conjunction with their own environmental protection initiatives, promote positive interactions with local citizens.
