Mitsuko Uchida with
Mahler Chamber Orchestra Japan Tour 2023

Celebrated Pianist Mitsuko Uchida performs Mozart’s Piano Concertos with
long-term partner Mahler Chamber Orchestra

Suntory Hall presents Mitsuko Uchida and Mahler Chamber Orchestra Japan Tour 2023 on November 2 & 9, 2023.

Recognised as one of the foremost pianists of our time, Mitsuko Uchida is widely praised for her intelligent and thoughtful interpretations. She first made her appearance at Suntory Hall in 1986, performing Mozart’s complete piano concertos during the hall’s Opening Series. Ever since, she has made Suntory Hall her home venue in Japan, and she is the hall’s Associate Artist.

In November, Uchida makes a welcome return to Suntory Hall together with the distinguished Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO), with whom she has enjoyed a long-term relationship as Artistic Partner. Directing from the keyboard, she will perform four of Mozart’s most sublime concertos over two days. The tour was originally planned for 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic. There will also be performances in Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara (October 29), MUZA Kawasaki Symphony Hall (October 31), and Hyogo Performing Arts Center (November 7).

The Mahler Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1997 by Claudio Abbado, is a group of passionate musicians dedicated to creating and sharing exceptional experiences in classical music. The group celebrated its 25th anniversary during the 2022/23 season. With members from 27 different countries, they come together for specific projects and tours across the world. MCO’s intimate and agile style will pair beautifully with Uchida’s exquisite approach to Mozart. This remarkable artistic collaboration is not to be missed.
