Römer, a grass for white wine, was produced in the Rheinland in Germany, at Delft in the Netherlands, and in Normandy in France. The pale green bowl is delicately blown, and decorated with the expression "Ein Glasje von welkomst" (the wine glass of welcome) done in diamond-point engraving. The stem is decorated with circular glass pieces having beaded, raspberry-like protrusions. The foot is formed by strands of spiral glass. The shape is typical of Römer glass produced in the 17th century.
