Biconical bottles were produced from the fourteenth to the beginning of the sixteen centuries in Germany in the Rhine river basin and in the Alsace region of France. They circulated as everyday wares, though how they were used remains unclear. It is thought that they may have been bottles for wine, with the dip in the umbrella-like shape to collect the dregs of the wine. (Paragon or Puzzle?
