This bottle has a narrow neck rising straight up from its somewhat flattened bulbous body. For stability, three triangular forms have been indented into its base. Advertisements by the Kagaya, a glass wholesaler in business from the latter half of the Edo period to the first half of the Meiji period, include similarly shaped bottles. They are described as kanbin, bottles for warming saké, but whether they were actually used in that way is uncertain. (Paragon or Puzzle?
