The clay body, of the reddish-brown characteristic of Shigaraki ware, has white feldspar particles that have burst out over its entire surface and some areas that are white after firing. The ash that fell on its surface melted, forming a natural glaze that, in some areas, flows down in a white, waterfall-like stream. This vessel appears to have been a jar for preserving seed rice; seed fragments remain inside it. (Paragon or Puzzle? Your Own Perspectives on Works in the Suntory Museum of Art Collection, 2024)
