Quite shallow in form, these dishes are decorated on the interior with a seigaiha (wave crest) pattern above which are placed a design of mallow and two wagtails rendered in green, yellow and black; bright red flowers add a lively note. The fluidity of the brushwork indicates a high degree of skill and the texture of the glaze an excellent firing technique. The underside of each dish is adorned with a shippo-tsunagi (interlocking circles) pattern. The foot is high in relation to the shape of the dish and bears a comb-tooth design.
