Nakamura Kimpei believes that the mainstream of contemporary ceramic art follows the aesthetic sense of potters in the Momoyama and Edo periods. He insists that it is impossible to re-experience the past; therefore, impossible to surpass the originals. He further insists that the orientation toward "kitsch" should arise from there. This object was born out of his aesthetic sense of regarding the "kitsch" in Japanese taste, and out of his pursuit for "decoration." Different shapes, textures and colors of rock, trees and metal are combined.
