The body is drawn in along a ribbon-like line around its middle and then narrows again from the hip to the base. A lotus blossom scroll pattern circles the rim, and the sides of the body have a landscape rendered in ink-wash style. Freshwater containers with strongly constrained bodies were popular in the Momoyama and Edo period. This container originally had a matching ceramic lid, but it now lost and replaced by an lacquerware lid. (Paragon or Puzzle?
