This tea bowl begins with a slightly curving walls, followed by beveling that pulls it in from the waist to the foot. A wide band of silver circles the outside of the rim. Below it are eight floral shippō-tsunagi (interlocking circles) in red, blue, and green, followed by eight lotus petal motifs. The shippō-tsunagi and lotus petals are painted in colored pigments on a white glazed ground and edged in gold pigment. The inside of the foot has the oval "Ninsei" seal applied to it. Nonomura Ninsei, under the guidance of tea master Kanamori Sōwa, created copies of Chinese, Seto, and Korean tea bowls while also making a great success of overglaze enamelled ceramics.
