Tawaraya Sōtatsu painted lotuses on paper dyed in multiple colors, upon which Hon’ami Kōetsu then transcribed the One Hundred Poets, One Hundred Poems. The work was originally twenty-five meters long, and the painting depicted the entire life of a lotus. It was, however, soon cut apart into detached segments. Some were lost during the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923; the surviving segments are in various collections.(Paragon or Puzzle?
